Cantores Amicitiae was founded in 2016 and made their debut
performance during a tour of Sweden in April last year. The one week tour,
comprised of four concerts and was well received by audiences and media alike.
The number of singers
usually varies between 8–12 singers and singers can change between projects
which makes Cantores Amicitiae a dynamic and versatile group. Our trademark is
a young fresh sound with individual
excellence combined with a passion for making choral music as an ensemble at
the highest artistic level. Cantores Amicitiae's repertoire spans across many
centuries and genres with an emphasis towards early sacred music.
Jakob Grubbström b. 1986, is the musical director and founder
of Cantores Amicitiae. He also works as Musical Director for Uttoxeter Choral
Society and assistant musical director for Birmingham Canoldir Male Voice
Choir.
Jakob recently graduated
from The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff where he studied
Choral Conducting under the direction of Sarah Tennant-Flowers and Neil Ferris.
Prior to moving over to the UK, Jakob studied conducting at the School of Music
in Piteå, Sweden under the tutelage of professor Erik Westberg and Petter
Sundkvist.
Jakob holds a degree in classical guitar from The
Royal College of Music in Stockholm and performs frequently as a chamber
musician and soloist throughout Europe.
He has received prizes and
awards from The Royal Swedish Academy of Music, Royal College of Music in Stockholm, County of Arvidsjaur,
Carl Erik Levin Foundation, GIP Foundation to mention a few.
